This is only an average cost, however, as your foundation will likely be more expensive if you have a complicated site or are building in a floodplain area. The four main types of foundations include:
- Concrete slabs – Concrete foundations are the most common type of foundation, and there’s nothing wrong with them. They’re generally easier to build, require less labor than other types of foundations, and last longer too. Of course, there are always pros and cons no matter what kind of material you choose for your construction project but concrete slabs tend to be a good choice for many homeowners because they come in many sizes so it’s possible for anyone who wants one but doesn’t want an ugly looking house next door when all finished up.
- Foundation options include concrete block walls, poured concrete slabs, steel-reinforced hollow concrete blocks, or wood-framed floor systems with nailers and insulation; prices range from $6–$50 per sq. ft., depending on the type of material used and depth of your basement flooring; typical costs are around $20 per sq. ft., which includes two courses of 5″ x 8″ wall blocks laid at 16″ on centers with rebar mesh reinforcements between each course; additional excavation costs can be significant if there is dirt underneath your slab before pouring the footings, additional cost depends on soil conditions, size/shape of your basement footprint plus other factors such as adding drainage pipes along perimeter walls (which requires additional manhole access points)

On average architects charge around $5000 for designing plans for new homes in Ohio which includes drafting blueprints as well as getting permits from local authorities (if needed).
